The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Displeasure Over Size Changes

Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.

The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.

Social Media Backlash

Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.

The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.

Sizing System Updates

Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Shopper Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.

Required Changes

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.

Platform Context

The app has more than 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
